Vocabulary list and Inspirational quotes for school:)
 As the summer is coming to an end we must prepare for the many days ahead of us in school. In order to do so below I have listed a vocabulary list followed by a series of motivational quotes to help kickstart your school year :) Hope this helps!

Vocabulary list:
  • Vexation: To be bothered/annoyed/frustrated by something. Ex:  Ron was quite vexed with his marks.
  • Irked: Irritated , annoyed. To be struck in a negative way. Ex: I was irked when the cashier took time to settle the bill.
  • Nebulous:In the form of a haze. Could also be defined as vague. Ex: The victim gave a very nebulous description of her kidnapper.
  • Seceded: To  formally withdraw from an corporation,alliance etc. Ex: The Southern states seceded from the federal union.
  • Sojourn: A temporary stay. Ex: Ollie sojourned in Ethopia once.
  • Dispensation: Exception from a rule or usual requirement. Ex: Samantha was given dispensation from doing her homework, as it was her birthday.
  •  Expounding: To thoroughly explain an idea or theory in detail. Ex: Jim was expounding a powerful theory to his teachers.
  • Tranquility: To be in a calm state. Ex: Studies show people can achieve tranquility by  meditating.
  • Iniquities: Unfairly/immoral behavior. Ex: Since the dictator killed all his enemies, he was seen as a symbol of iniquity.
  • Benign: Gentle and Kind, Harmless. Ex: Rhea said she idolizes Sara for her  benign behaviour.
  • Aloof: Distant or not involved. Ex: Siya said she preferred to stay aloof from all the fighting.
  • Myopic: Short sighted. Ex: Atticus wore glasses as he was myopic.
  • Providence: To be protected and cared for by God or a spiritual power. Ex: People often pray to seek providence from a higher power.
  • Mausoleum: Impressive building structures of tomb(s). Ex: Humayun's tomb was a mausoleum built in memory of the well known Mughal emperor.
  • Bedecked: To decorate. Ex: Upon the festival of Diwali traditional Indian women bedeck their houses with diyas, lamps and candles, to welcome goddess Lakshmi in their homes.
  • Livid: Furious. Ex: Mother was absolutely livid when I broke the lamp.
  • Phantom: A ghost. Ex: She claims a phantom appeared at midnight on her doorstep.
  • Enamoured: To admire,or be filled with love for. Ex: Simba claims he was truly enamoured by the beauty of India.
  • Unsullied: Extremely clean. Ex: Rhea claims her hotel room was unsullied.
  • Revelation: A surprising disclosure. Ex: The lawyer announced that this relevation could help win this case.
  • Prejudice: An opinion that is formed which is  not based on actual experiences or facts.  
  • Foray: A sudden attack or raid.Ex: 
  • Fortitude: Displaying courage in an adverse situation. Ex: In tough situations Simba displays immense fortitude.
  • Condescend: To do something that one considers to below their dignity. Ex: The mayor made a very condescending statement.
  • Amiable: Having or displaying a friendly and pleasant manner. Ex: The amiable young man greeted me enthusiastically.
